FM/Romeo's Daughter Islington Academy 0th July 2010

You are all thinking didn't he go recently to this one, well after waiting 21 years since the last time I wasn't hanging round till I was 65 so 47 days later and on the hottest nite of the year (car temperature 35 degrees or 95 in old money!!) off to London we travelled.
In those preceding 47 days Romeo's Daughter had recorded a live cd and FM had played the main stage at the Download Festival.

To a full house and luckily with working air conditioning Romeo's Daughter played another blinder. To a crowd who knew every word the 8 song set included the new song "Bittersweet"and the ballad "Look Through Golden Eyes" and again they were excellent. Leigh Matty (vox) was just superb and lets hope next years new cd is as good as it should be.
A great comeback.

The recent gig in Birmingham was our first look at FM since 1995 and with age they just get better and better. The 16 song 90 minute set was the same as before but with a superb sound tonite was just even better than before. Pete Jupp on drums grinned though the whole evening especially when his 7 year old daughter Freya was shown to him at the front during "That Girl".

The whole place knew every word and again Jim Kirkpatrick (geetar) looks like he has been in the band forever everything he does is class. Steve Overland was out of this world. Vocals have never been better and one hilarious moment as he accapelled the start of Heard It Through The Grapevine and took breath someone yelled out "average".
The whole place roared and Steve couldn't sing for a good 30 seconds as he struggled to gain his composure!!

Words cannot do the nite justice really they really should be superstars and if all X Factor contestants had a tenth of Steve Overlands voice the world would be a better place.

Roll on the next part of the tour and as I gave Birmingham 12/10 tonite must have been a 20.
