Tracer – The Cockpit Leeds 30th September 2012.

You know your getting old when you are dropping your youngest daughter and her friends off to see Marina & and the Diamonds at Leeds University. On the plus side though being in Leeds city centre gave me the perfect excuse to go and see Tracer who were on at the Cockpit on the same evening.

The show as opened up by the excellent Virgil and the Accelerators who put together a blistering 30 minute set, defiantly a band to look out for in the future.

Tracer hit the stage at full throttle opening up with The Bitch before the popular Devil Ride. The sound was great and the band was on fire. This tour was the first chance UK crowds have had to see new bassist Pat Saracino and he seemed to be received very well, as he and the other band members pounded the set along with songs like Forget My Name, End of the Samurai, Spaces in Between and Son of a Gun. All too soon we reached the closing song of the main set where the band cleverly interweaves their own song Walk Alone with Black Sabbath’s War Pigs. At this stage Michael Brown was literally giving blood for the cause as he sliced his finger and even a quick patch up job could not prevent his fret board being covered in blood during the encores of Won’t Let it Die and Too Much. A great show by two great bands.

PS. My daughter said Marina and the Diamonds was awesome. I’ll have to take her word for that.
