Tracer and The Answer, The Cockpit Leeds 19 October 2013
A
short blistering half hour set from Tracer that featured five Songs from the
New El Pistolero CD opened with Hangman before the more
familiar Too Much from Space in Between. The band received a great reception,
which must have been built on the reputation they gained from there show here
back in September 2012.
Other new songs played included There’s a Man, Manic for Ya, Wolf in Cheap
Cloths and Dead Garden .
The short set was brought to great climax with the excellent Devil Ride, which
even had time for brief sing along. Let’s hope this great band are back soon
with a headline tour.
Headliners The Answer were promoting their
new CD New Horizons and the set opened with the title track. The band received
a really warm welcome from the Leeds crowd; this was only the second show the
band had played in the city, but they were welcomed like long lost friends. It
was back to a more familiar song with Demon Eyes for the second track. As
expected the new CD featured heavily in the set, Scream Louder Love, Speak Now,
Concrete and recent single Spectacular, which got a great reception, featured.
This still left time for old favourites like Under the Sky, Nowhere Freeway
and On and On.
The main set was brought to a close with
the bluesy Memphis Water and Waste Your Tears. Of course
this wasn't the end, some frantic stomping and clamping the band
returned to delight us with Comfort Zone and one of my favourites,
Preachin’ which included Cormac Neason entering the crowd and asking them to
kneel in prayer.
