Bernie Tormé York Fibbers 17 Oct 2104

Bernie Tormé is out on his first solo tour since his days with GMT in support of his great double CD Flowers and Dirt. For this tour he has teamed up with drummer Ian Harris and bassist Chris Heilmann who you will remember from the Tormé days. In the mid 80’s.
Tonight’s show was opened up with the classic Wild West which allows Bernie to show everyone that he can still produce all the guitar tricks we love. The night proved to be a great mix of new and old with Turn Out the Lights, Getting There and the wonderful Lightning Strikes from the early days getting an airing. There was also plenty from the Flowers and Dirt CD including Partytown, Lockjaw and the Bluesy Blood Run Cold.

We also fit in the great Star and a couple from the GMT days in the shape of Rocky Road to Dublin and Can’t Stop Rock N Roll. The set is brought to a close with a couple of Gillan classics Trouble and New Orleans.

A well-deserved encore features the now customary cover of Hendrix’s Fire before closing with a tribute to Rory Gallagher with Same Old Story.

This how rock music should be, very loud and very proud. If Bernie is playing near you go along and give yourself a treat.
