In the middle of a 3 band bill and my reason for attending were Derby 5 piece Doomsday Outlaw who's superb new album Hard Times is due to be released on Friday the 11th of May on Frontiers Records Srl.

Their 35 minute set had 5 from the new cd with 2 from their debut cd Suffer More here is what they played.

Over And Over
Spirit That Made Me
Bring It On Home
Hard Times
All That I Have
Bring You Pain
Were You Ever Mine.

From the moment they hit the stage they never stopped entertaining with vocalist Phil Poole a ball of energy and with a good stage rapport too and possesses a fine bluesy voice that fit's the hard hitting groove that the band have.

Twin guitarist's Gavin Mills and Stephen Broughton both peel off riff after riff and both solo with intent too.The rhythm section of Indy Chanda on bass and the hard hitting John Willis on drums form a rock solid back line.

Over And Over has a riff to stop a rhino in it's tracks and had head's nodding and from the word go the band worked the stage and a wonderful melodic chorus showing off Phil's range.

Spirit That Made Me has a rolling guitar riff that ends up stop starting with Phil filling in the gaps and a bit of Led Zep in the vocals and a shorter chorus but no less powerful.Hints of Black Stone Cherry in the riff too.

Were You Ever Mine finished off in style the set.Phil gets another chance to show off his vocal prowess in the intro with an electric guitar picked passage before the main heavy duty guitar riff kicked in.Another great chorus and more superb soloing brought the set to a close with Doomsday Outlaw showing that their time is now.

With plenty of live shows booked and Hard Times out tomorrow check out Doomsday Outlaw now you won't be disappointed.
